What Is Sober Living?Sober living provides recovering guests with an alcohol & drug free living environment. Rules of conduct and ongoing support from both peers and Head of Household/Peer Coordinator help individuals transition back into productive lives. Five Points Sober Living is, "Where Your Future Begins". Sober living homes vary widely in their effectiveness, as they are not governed by any uniform standard set of practices. Head of Household/Peer Coordinator should help with providing a safe and comfortable surrounding by enforcing house rules. Otherwise, guests may back-slide at this most critical part of their healing process. While rules will differ from house to house, there should be a basic understanding of zero-tolerance for alcohol & drug use and strong encouragement to attend meetings. Rules typically cover these areas, as well as: day-to-day house management (chores, etc.), curfews, drug testing policy and general areas of respect toward other house guests. Sober living is a time for individual guests to take back control of their lives. Therefore, Head of Household/Peer Coordinator, are present only to take care of the facility, see that rules are being obeyed and to act as role models. |
